Active CPU pricing on Fluid has saved us 77% on our Vercel bill. This is the most significant infrastructure optimization we’ve shipped to date. It obviously changes how much you pay, but also the entire experience of using our product. Over the past year, our own workload mix has shifted. We’ve been deploying more backends, more APIs, more full stack apps. AI calls have extended the duration of responses. It’s not just us. The web is undergoing a pretty dramatic shift. From pixels to tokens. From pages to agents. From HTTP to MCP. From foreground to background. If you’re building compute infrastructure like we are, running the code is, perhaps counter intuitively, only the tip of the iceberg. I’m super proud of what we’ve accomplished, with over 1 trillion invocations, multi-AZ reliability, multi-region with 1 LOC, secure VPC connectivity, … But beyond the actual compute, the product experience is actually determined by the pricing model and the observability of the system. Massive kudos to the compute, pricing, financial infrastructure, and observability teams at Vercel for coming together to ship a truly customer-centric experience, with built-in realtime usage understanding. If you haven’t enabled Fluid, it takes one click to do so. Let me know how it works for you.
